In this session we’ll look at how these elements are used together to create incredible works of portrait art. You’ll experiment with your own colour, pattern and motifs to create your own unique portrait to take home at the end of the session.
Just an interest in the subject!
It may be useful if you have attended the Mexican folk art: Discovery session but this is not essential.
Please bring an image you would like to work from: a picture of yourself, a relative or friend or perhaps a favourite pet! Basic equipment, including paint, will be provided but please bring your own materials if you wish; pencils, erasers, pencil sharpeners, coloured crayons, felt tips etc.
You will be taught and supported by an experienced and enthusiastic tutor, take part in a range of activities including demonstrations, group and individual work and receive support for your own ideas.
On this short course you will look at the use of colour, pattern and motif in Mexican art. We will look briefly at the background – look at some of the more famous images and artists and then, with tutor support, you will have a go at creating your own Mexican influenced portrait to take home with you.
You may wish to develop your skills further by enrolling on one of our other art courses, or take part in other creative subjects such as photography, knitting, dressmaking, creative writing and fabric dyeing and printing. We also offer courses in English, Maths, computers and employability.
You can find more information on the Financial help and additional support page or you can contact us to talk about this and any other support we can provide.
