Ever dreamed of making your own pasta from scratch? Try your hand at this classic Italian art form and find out how pasta making is surprisingly easy and fun. During this session you will learn about different types of pasta, making your own and choosing from a variety of toppings, sauces or fillings to make the perfect pasta dish. You will make an amazing ravioli dish with a filling of your choice, a carbonara sauce and some parmesan crisps on the side.

During this session you will learn more about the nutritional and cost benefits of homemade cooking, you will take home what you make and receive recipe cards for the items you have cooked so that you are ready to make these again at home.

What are you doing to keep learners safe?

The safety of our learners and staff is our top priority and we’ve made some big changes to our centres, from socially-distanced training rooms to staggered start times. Although things will look different, our staff will be as friendly and helpful as ever and we’re really excited to welcome learners back.

What do I need to join the course?

Just an enthusiasm to learn and a willingness to have a go.

What do I need to bring with me to the first session?

Please bring an apron with you and a container with a lid to take home what you make. You will also need to bring with you the following ingredients:

For the pasta: No additional ingredients needed

For a vegetarian filling please bring:

  • 3 asparagus tips OR 100g fresh spinach OR 4 mushrooms
  • 50g Ricotta
  • 50g Parmesan

Or for a crab filling please bring:

  • ¼ red pepper
  • 200g tin crabmeat
  • 2 tsp capers
  • 1 lemon

Carbonara pasta sauce please bring:

  • 50g pancetta/bacon lardons (for a vegetarian option replace the bacon with 4 medium mushrooms)
  • 50g parmesan

How will I be taught?

You will participate in both group demonstrations and work alongside the tutor to practise the skills and techniques of preparing and presenting these Italian treats.

What will I learn?

Our tutor will guide you through the processes of preparing these Italian treats, giving you the confidence and skills needed to make them again at home. You will also learn some useful tips and tricks on how to present your dishes and also learn about the nutritional and cost benefits of home cooking.

Whether you’re new to the kitchen or are looking to refine your skills, our range of courses will give you the opportunity to learn new skills and gain some fresh and exciting ideas for your menus! Your tutor will discuss our range of short courses with you, including themes such as bread, biscuits, soups, batch cooking, desserts, family cookery, speciality world cuisine, healthy eating, meals on a budget and pastry making, to name but a few. We will also cover the nutritional and financial benefits of home cooking, such as how to batch cook to fill up your freezer and use up those leftovers!
