Got a sweet tooth and want to learn to make perfect pastries to please your friends and family? Come along to our warm and friendly session and receive expert tuition on how to make perfect sweet pastry treats. You will make your own choux pastry profiteroles and also learn how to make shortcrust pastry maids of honour.

You will take home what you make and receive recipe cards for the items you have made so that you are ready to make these again at home.

What are you doing to keep learners safe?

The safety of our learners and staff is our top priority and we’ve made some big changes to our centres, from socially-distanced training rooms to staggered start times. Although things will look different, our staff will be as friendly and helpful as ever and we’re really excited to welcome learners back.

What do I need to join the course?

Just an enthusiasm to learn and a willingness to have a go.

What do I need to bring with me to the first session?

Please bring an apron with you and a container with a lid to take home what you make. You will also need to bring with you the following ingredients:

  • 50g unsalted butter
  • 300ml double cream
  • 150g margarine

How will I be taught?

You will participate in both group demonstrations and work alongside the tutor to practise the skills and techniques of preparing and making these delicious pastries.

What will I learn?

Our tutor will guide you through the processes of preparing these tasty pastries giving you the confidence and skills needed to make this again at home, You will also learn some useful tips and tricks on how to present your dishes and also learn about the nutritional and cost benefits of home cooking.

Whether you’re new to the kitchen or are looking to refine your skills, our range of courses will give you the opportunity to learn new skills and gain some fresh and exciting ideas for your menus! We run courses on how to prepare a variety of dishes, pastries, appetisers and snacks suitable for every day, seasonal and special occasions. If you’re interested in foreign cuisine come along and develop your skills in Mexican, Chinese, Indian and Italian cookery. Your tutor will discuss our range of short courses with you, including themes such as bread, biscuits, soups, batch cooking, desserts, family cookery, speciality world cuisine, healthy eating, meals on a budget and pastry making, to name but a few. We will also cover the nutritional and financial benefits of home cooking, such as how to batch cook to fill up your freezer and use up those leftovers!
