Are you interested in working or volunteering in schools as a teaching assistant? Would you like to inspire and support children and young people to learn? Is so, then this free Try course will give you an opportunity to meet one of our tutors, find out more about our Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools qualification and gain an overview of the different roles available in schools so you can decide whether you’d like to explore the subject further.

What will I learn?

You will learn more about the role of the teaching assistant and you’ll gain an understanding of the skills and knowledge you will need should you decide to follow this career path.

If you are looking for work or aiming for a change of role, then your tutor will also make you aware of the employability programmes we have available to support you in achieving your employment goals.

Our team will be there to support you at every step of your journey and we always welcome your feedback to help us ensure that you feel safe, happy, supported and welcome. 

What do I need to join the course?

Enthusiasm to learn more! You do not need to have any previous experience of working in schools to attend this course.

What do I need to provide for the first session?

Should you decide that you’d like to learn more and work towards the Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, you’ll be signposted to our Achieve Your English Goals sessions, where you’ll work with a friendly tutor to measure your English, maths and digital skills to make sure you’re ready for your next step. Your tutor will then work with you to help you decide which next step is right for you.

You may choose to join our Introduction to Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools course, where you’ll learn all about the range of responsibilities that might be expected of you in a school environment to prepare you for progressing towards your qualification and securing your school placement.

Alternatively, you may decide to brush up your English, maths or digital skills before progressing to the Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools qualification.
