This course will introduce you to some of the craft and design materials you will work with and allow you to explore different ways of combining these materials to make your final craft item. You will develop practical craft skills along with independent learning and problem solving skills and you will learn more about safe working practices within a craft environment. Whether you are looking to gain employment, update your CV with a range of transferable skills or want to explore more about the benefits of craft to health and well-being then this course is for you and is a great entry level qualification if you want to develop your creative craft skills further.

What are you doing to keep learners safe?

What do I need to join the course?

Before joining the course one of our team with contact you to discuss the course requirement and ensure that this is the right course for you.

What do I need to bring with me to the first session?

You may want to bring a notepad and pen with you. All basic resources that you will need with be provided. You may wish to bring with you additional items to add to your design, however, your tutor will talk to you about this at the start of the course.

How will I be taught?

With your tutor’s support you will take part in group demonstrations and practical work. You will have the opportunity to try working with a range of materials before deciding on which you would prefer to use for your individual design.

What will I learn?

With your tutor’s guidance you will develop a basic understanding of safe practice within the craft environment, you will develop both team working and independent learning skill and learn how to use specialist equipment correctly whilst planning, designing and creating your own craft item.

What qualification will I get

NCFE Entry level Award in Creative Craft (Entry 3).

What could I do next?

You may wish to progress to the Level 1 Award in Creative Craft or go on to join one of our other craft courses; your tutor will discuss the options with you during your time on this course. We run courses in dressmaking, flower arranging, crochet, knitting, patchwork and quilting, photography, pottery and soft furnishings.
