Course details

Whatever your role at the council is, it’s important that you have some awareness of what procurement is, and why it is important for the council to get good value for money in everything that we do.

This course will help you to understand why procurement rules are in place, and who you can contact if you need any further information or guidance. It is suitable for staff who are not directly involved in procurement activities, and have never completed any council procurement in the past – including those who are new to the council.

Staff who are involved in some level of procurement may wish to progress to the level two and level three procurement courses.

What could I do next?

This course is part of a programme of courses aimed at all staff working in the council. Depending on your level of involvement with procurement activity you may wish to progress to the following courses:

  • Procurement Level 2 - aimed at all staff who are likely to become involved in the procurement process
  • Procurement Level 3 - aimed at officers responsible for procurement within their service areas, but who are not categorised as procurement professionals working in the three primary category teams of Goods and Services, Construction and Housing, Health and Care.
