Course details

Do you want to know more about mental health issues? Maybe you are thinking of a new career or you want to explore how gaining an improved awareness can help in your everyday life or work? On this FREE two hour course, you will have an introduction to mental health awareness, find out more about our adult learning centres and meet some of our team, before deciding whether you want to continue to learn more.

What are you doing to keep learners safe?

The safety of our learners and staff is our top priority and we’ve made some big changes to our centres, from socially-distanced training rooms to staggered start times. Although things will look different, our staff will be as friendly and helpful as ever and we’re really excited to welcome learners back.

If you’re concerned about visiting one of our centres, please get in touch so we can discuss it with you.

What do I need to join the course?

Enthusiasm to learn more! You do not need to have any previous experience or knowledge of mental health issues to join this course.

What do I need to bring with me to the first session?

You might like to bring a notepad and pen.

How will I be taught?

You will be taught by a specialist tutor and will take part in a range of activities including paired, group and individual work.

What will I learn?

You will understand what mental health awareness is all about and identify skills that may be beneficial in your work setting and personal life. You will also have the opportunity to find out what other courses are available, should you decide that you want to continue to learn more.

What could I do next?

Once you’ve attended this course you’ll be in a position to decide whether you wish to continue to learn more about mental health as well as general health and wellbeing courses. If so then you may wish to progress to one of our other mental health awareness courses and your tutor will give you more information about this in the session. If you want to try a different subject then we offer a range of opportunities in computer skills, English, maths, employability, creative skills, retail, photography, supporting teaching and learning in schools etc.

Can we help you to learn?

You can find more information on the Financial help and additional support page or you can contact us to talk about this and any other support we can provide.
