Everyone has valuable life skills and experience. Whatever your background you will have picked up transferable skills such as good time keeping, communication skills and many more, which employers look for in an employee.

When you’re looking for work, it’s really useful to be able to mention these transferable skills as well as your previous experience on your application and in your interview.

During this session we will draw out your skills and experience and help you to create a balanced personal profile ready for your job search and interviews.

What do I need to join the course?

You do not need any previous experience to join this course.

What do I need to provide for the first session?

You may find it useful to have a notebook and pen to make notes.

How will I learn?

Your learning will be supported online by an experienced tutor through small and large group discussions, video clips, and reading materials. You will also be invited to develop your skills and understanding through wider reading between sessions.

Attendance at all sessions is important if you are to receive the full benefits of this course. You will be given the opportunity to have one to one tutorials with your tutor to discuss personal progress.

What will I learn?

On this course, you will learn:

  • how to identify what transferable skills and relevant experience you already have
  • how to create a personal profile
  • how to create a personal plan of action
