Course details

You may have all the qualifications and training an employer is asking for but is that enough?

Employers also want employees to have the ‘soft skills’ needed to carry out their work in an effective and organised manner.

These include planning and organisation, good communication skills, problem solving and self-management.

In this session we will support you in identifying the skills you already have as well as those you need to further develop.

What do I need to join the course?

No previous experience is required to join this session.

What do I need to provide for the first session?

Paper and pen for taking notes

How will I be taught?

Your learning will be supported online by an experienced tutor through small and large group discussions, video clips, and reading materials. You will also be invited to develop your skills and understanding through wider research.

You will be given the opportunity to have one to one tutorials with your tutor to discuss personal progress.

What will I learn?

You will:

  • identify what different employment sectors are looking for in an employee
  • understand what soft skills employers are seeking
  • know how to communicate and manage your time effectively in the workplace
  • learn more about critical thinking, problem solving and teamwork

What could I do next?

Your personal adviser will meet with you to talk about your best next options as part of your course.

You might want to consider our other employability courses.

You may need to brush up or gain a qualification in English, maths or IT skills. We offer courses in all of these plus Health and wellbeing courses, Confidence building, Stress Management, mental health awareness, healthy eating, Step up to Social care, Managing remote teams and many others which will support you in your job search.

Can we help you to learn?
