This course is designed to equip you with some mindfulness resources to support you with life’s challenges and difficulties. There will be a particular focus on causes and responses to stress and anxiety, and also on effective responses to strong emotions as they arise in everyday life. The weekly sessions will include different topics and opportunities to experience a range of formal mindfulness practices (eg. sitting practices, breath awareness, body awareness). You will be equipped to try out some of these between sessions and can choose how much or how little you engage with them in your own time.

What are you doing to keep learners safe?

The safety of our learners and staff is our top priority and we’ve made some big changes to our centres, from socially-distanced training rooms to staggered start times. Although things will look different, our staff will be as friendly and helpful as ever and we’re really excited to welcome learners back.

If you’re concerned about visiting one of our centres, please get in touch so we can discuss it with you.

What do I need to join the course?

Ideally you will have attended Mindfulness Step 1 but if you have some different previous experience of mindfulness, this course may still be suitable for you. You can discuss this with a course tutor.

What do I need to bring with me to the first session?

It would be useful if you could bring a pen and some paper or a notebook. We are following safety guidelines so, at the moment, we are unable to provide these for you.

How will I be taught?

You will be taught and supported by an experienced tutor and will take part in a range of activities including group work and individual work. You may wish to carry out work outside the classroom to help you practise and apply the skills and knowledge gained.

What will I learn?

On the course you will:

  • learn how mindfulness can be used to improve your life
  • discover how automatic-pilot affects the quality of your life
  • identify stress effects and how to respond to them effectively
  • explore how mindfulness can be used to help manage time pressures
  • learn how mindfulness can be used to manage strong emotions and difficult thought patterns
  • practice a variety of mindfulness practices of differing lengths
  • evaluate your use of mindfulness and how you might develop this further.

What canI do next?

Your tutor will talk to you about possible progressions from this course, which may include one of our counselling and mental health or health and wellbeing courses.

Can we help you to learn?

You can find more information on the Financial help and additional support page or you can contact us to talk about this and any other support we can provide.
