What are you doing to keep learners safe?

The safety of our learners and staff is our top priority and we’ve made some big changes to our centres, from socially-distanced training rooms to staggered start times. Although things will look different, our staff will be as friendly and helpful as ever and we’re really excited to welcome learners back.

If you’re concerned about visiting one of our centres, please get in touch so we can discuss it with you.

What do I need to bring with me to the first session?

You will need to provide your own protective clothing, sensible footwear, protective gloves and a mask. The course fee includes an amount to cover basic materials, which will be provided.

How will I be taught?

You will be taught and supported by an experienced and enthusiastic tutor, take part in a range of activities including demonstrations, group and individual work and receive support for your own ideas. You will be able to take home what you make.

What will I learn?

On the course you will learn the techniques of:

• using the potter's wheel
• slab work
• glazing and creating patterns
• making coil pots in moulds
• using porcelain as a decoration

What could I do next?

You may wish to develop your skills further with our extending pottery skills course. Your tutor will provide more information about this at the end of your course. You may also consider some of our other Adult Learning courses such as knitting, dressmaking, pattern making, flower arranging, mindfulness and photography or computer skills, English, maths and employability courses.
