Course details

Have you always wanted to knit yourself and your family home crafted items? If so then come along to this FREE try course and have a go. You will learn some basic knitting techniques and make your own quick knit to take away with you. You will also have the opportunity to find out what our adult learning centres are like and meet some of our team.

What are you doing to keep learners safe?

The safety of our learners and staff is our top priority and we’ve made some big changes to our centres, from socially-distanced training rooms to staggered start times. Although things will look different, our staff will be as friendly and helpful as ever and we’re really excited to welcome learners back.

If you’re concerned about visiting one of our centres, please get in touch so we can discuss it with you.

What do I need to join the course?

Enthusiasm to learn more! You do not need to have any previous experience or knowledge of knitting to join this course.

What do I need to bring with me?

All craft materials will be supplied on the day. You may wish to bring along a notebook and pen for any notes that you want to make.

How will I be taught?

You will be taught by an experienced/specialist tutor and will take part in a range of activities including demonstrations and individual practical work.

What will I learn?

You will begin to understand more about some of the different yarns, needles and patterns that you can use and have a go at casting on and using a basic knitting stitch. Using these skills you will produce a small ‘quick knit’ that you can be proud to take away with you after the session.

What can this course lead to?

Once you’ve attended this course you’ll be in a position to decide whether you wish to continue to learn more about knitting. If so then you may wish to progress to one of our other knitting courses and your tutor will give you more information about this in the session. If you want to try a different subject then we offer a range of opportunities in computer skills, English, maths, employability, creative skills, retail, photography, supporting teaching and learning in schools and many more.

Can we help you to learn?

You can find more information on the Financial help and additional support page or you can contact us to talk about this and any other support we can provide.
