What are you doing to keep learners safe?

The safety of our learners and staff is our top priority and we’ve made some big changes to our centres, from socially-distanced training rooms to staggered start times. Although things will look different, our staff will be as friendly and helpful as ever and we’re really excited to welcome learners back.

If you’re concerned about visiting one of our centres, please get in touch so we can discuss it with you.

What do I need to join the course?

You don’t need any knowledge of poetry at all, just the enthusiasm to put pen to paper and have a go.

What do I need to bring with me to the first session?

You don’t need to bring anything, but you may bring your own notebook and pen if you prefer.

How will I be taught?

You will be taught in a small, friendly group by our enthusiastic and experienced tutor. You will take part in some discussions and work independently to produce your poetry, which you can share with the group in each session.

What will I learn?

You will learn about syllables and rhyming and how to write rhyming couplets, limericks and haikus. You will also learn about structuring and editing your work, as well as how to present it.

What could I do next?

You can progress to the next step of the course, which is Developing poetry. You may be interested in other creative courses, such as creative writing, photography or speaking confidently in public. You may also be interested in gaining qualifications in English, maths or ICT.

Can we help you to learn?

You can find more information on the Financial help and additional support page or you can contact us to talk about this and any other support we can provide.
