Experiment further with your own creative ideas and enhance your practical skills with this course for more experienced learners. You will use the potter’s wheel and will have the opportunity to design and create your own sculptural piece. You will take away with you the work that your produce during the course.

What are you doing to keep learners safe?

The safety of our learners and staff is our top priority and we’ve made some big changes to our centres, from socially-distanced training rooms to staggered start times. Although things will look different, our staff will be as friendly and helpful as ever and we’re really excited to welcome learners back.

If you’re concerned about visiting one of our centres, please get in touch so we can discuss it with you.

What do I need to bring with me to the first session?

You will need to provide your own protective clothing, sensible footwear, protective gloves and a mask. The course fee includes an amount to cover basic materials, which will be provided.

How will I be taught?

You will be taught and supported by an experienced and enthusiastic tutor, take part in a range of activities including demonstrations, group and individual work and receive support for your own ideas. You will be able to take home what you make.

What will I learn?

During this course you will throw your pot using the potter’s wheel before designing and creating your own hand built sculpture using skills in:

  • slab work
  • coiling
  • using a slip as a decorative feature

What could I do next?

You may wish to develop your skills further with our pottery workshop. Your tutor will provide more information about this at the end of your course. You may also consider some of our other Adult Learning courses such as knitting, dressmaking, pattern making, flower arranging, mindfulness and photography or computer skills, English, maths and employability courses.

Can we help you to learn?

You can find more information on the Financial help and additional support page or you can contact us to talk about this and any other support we can provide.
