You’ll learn how to make beautiful, unique patchworks that can be used as wall hangings, to give as special gifts or just as part of your home décor. You’ll build on the skills you’ve already developed by using irregular shapes and learn how to finish off your piece with decorative edgings and embellishments.
By the end of the course you’ll have completed your own unique piece as well as having built your skills for your own, home projects.
What do I need to join the course?
You must be aged 19 or over. You may benefit from having attended our other Patchwork courses.
What do I need to provide for the first session?
During the first session our tutor will advise you on what materials you will need for your personal project. You may wish to bring fabrics that hold a particular meaning for you to incorporate into a ‘memory quilt’
How will I be taught?
You will be taught and supported by an experienced tutor and will take part in a range of activities including group work and individual work. You may wish to carry out work outside the classroom to help you practise and apply the skills and knowledge that you have gained.
What will I learn?
On the course you will learn:
- How to work with regular and/or irregular shapes, colours and patterns.
- How to refine your quilting and applique techniques
- How to decorate and embellish your personal project/ul>
What could I do next?
Your tutor will discuss with you how you may develop your skills further. You may also consider some of our other Adult Learning courses such as dressmaking, machine embroidery, mindfulness and photography or computer skills, English, maths and employability courses.
