The last in our series of four short creative writing courses, you will look at different genre and focus on a single personal project throughout the course. There will be opportunities to discuss ideas and to complete various types of writing in the company of fellow learners. You will also be able to share your writing and to receive peer and tutor feedback in order to develop your personal project.

What are you doing to keep learners safe?

The safety of our learners and staff is our top priority and we’ve made some big changes to our centres, from socially-distanced training rooms to staggered start times. Although things will look different, our staff will be as friendly and helpful as ever and we’re really excited to welcome learners back.

If you’re concerned about visiting one of our centres, please get in touch so we can discuss it with you.

What do I need to join the course?

It may be useful if you have already attended our moving on with creative writing course, however this is not essential.

What do I need to bring with me to the first session?

You will need a notebook and pen.

How will I be taught?

You will be guided and supported by an experienced tutor and will take part in a range of activities including individual and group work.

What will I learn?

On this course you will:

  • further develop your individual writing style through prose, poetry, screenplay or monologue
  • choose and work on your own project
  • share your ideas with the group and work together to go through the editing process
  • write to a given genre and include different themes, e.g. a ghost story, fantasy or writing for children.

What could I do next?

You may wish to come along to one of our creative writing workshops that are delivered at different times of the year. Your tutor can also discuss other higher level creative writing courses that are on offer in the area.

Can we help you to learn?

You can find more information on the Financial help and additional support page or you can contact us to talk about this and any other support we can provide.
