Course details

Do you love the look and style of designer cushions and soft furnishings, but are not so keen on designer prices? Would you like to be able to make your own bespoke, unique home accessories?

If so, join us on this free soft furnishings Try session.

You’ll start to learn the basics of creating your own furnishings, using a range of techniques both on sewing machines and by hand that will give you a great grounding if you decide you want to learn more.

At the end of the session you’ll have your own unique bunting or wall hanging to take home with you, and you’ll have found out more about what you can do if you want to learn more.

What do I need to join the course?

Enthusiasm to learn more! You do not need to have any previous experience or knowledge of this craft specifically or of sewing in general to join this course.

What do I need to provide for the first session?

All craft materials will be supplied on the day, however, you may wish to bring along a piece of cherished fabric to use in your bunting or wall hanging.

A notebook and pen would be handy to record any ideas, tips etc.

How will I be taught?

You will be taught by an experienced tutor and will take part in a range of activities including demonstrations, group and individual practical work.

What will I learn?

You will gain some of the basic skills involved in creating soft furnishings. You will complete your own ‘bespoke’ decorative bunting or wall hanging to take home with you.

What could I do next?

Once you’ve attended this course you’ll be in a position to decide whether you wish to continue to learn more about soft furnishings. If so then you may wish to progress to one of our other soft furnishings courses and your tutor will give you more information about this in the session.

If you want to try a different subject then we offer a range of opportunities in computer skills, English, maths, employability, creative skills, retail, photography, supporting teaching and learning in schools etc.

Can we help you to learn?

You can find more information on the Financial help and additional support page or you can contact us to talk about this and any other support we can provide.
