You’ll start off learning how to present your ideas on a mood board, then you’ll move on to designing and creating your own stencils, and finally make your own cushion cover or wall hanging to take home with you.
The safety of our learners and staff is our top priority and we’ve made some big changes to our centres, from socially-distanced training rooms to staggered start times. Although things will look different, our staff will be as friendly and helpful as ever and we’re really excited to welcome learners back.
If you’re concerned about visiting one of our centres, please get in touch so we can discuss it with you.
Enthusiasm to learn more! You do not need to have any previous experience or knowledge of interior design to join this course. Some basic maths skills would be an advantage as you will need to be able to do some simple calculations to use rulers and other measuring equipment.
Notepad and pen and an image of the room you want to redesign; bring your own fabric swatches if you have a particular fabric you wish to use in your design.
Our tutor will advise you about any additional resources you may like to bring later in the course dependent on your individual design.
You will be taught and supported by an experienced and enthusiastic tutor, take part in a range of activities including demonstrations, group and individual work and receive support for your own ideas.
On this course, guided by the tutor, you will learn how to create and use mood boards. You will design and use your own stencils and complete a simple cushion cover or a wall hanging to take home with you and add to your chosen room.
You may wish to develop your skills further with our developing interior design skills course. Your tutor will provide more information about this at the end of your course. You may also consider some of our other Adult Learning courses such as knitting, crochet, dressmaking, self-esteem and confidence building, mindfulness and photography or computer skills, English, maths and employability courses.
You can find more information on the Financial help and additional support page or you can contact us to talk about this and any other support we can provide.
