The patterns and motifs found in Mexican art are themselves intertwined with the culture of the country itself.
In this session you will work to create highly decorative and lively images typical of Mexican folk art. You will experiment with patterns and motifs and take home your own piece of art at the end of the course.
Just an interest in the subject!
It may be useful if you have attended Mexican folk art: Discovery but this is not essential.
Basic equipment, including paint, will be provided but please bring your own materials if you wish; pencils, erasers, pencil sharpeners, coloured crayons, felt tips etc.
You will be taught and supported by an experienced and enthusiastic tutor, take part in a range of activities including demonstrations, group and individual work and receive support for your own ideas.
On this short course you will look at the use of pattern and motif in Mexican art. We will look briefly at the background – look at some of the more famous images and artists from this time and then, with tutor support, you will have a go at creating your own Mexican influenced art image to take home with you.
You may wish to develop your skills further by enrolling on one of our other art courses, or take part in other creative subjects such as photography, knitting, dressmaking, creative writing and fabric dyeing and printing. We also offer courses in English, Maths, computers and employability.
