If English is not your first language then joining this course will help you to develop your English speaking and listening skills. You will learn new words and phrases so that you are more confident when using public transport and planning your travel. You will work in a small and friendly class and will have lots of opportunities to practise speaking in and listening to English as well as doing some very simple reading and writing exercises.

What are you doing to keep learners safe?

The safety of our learners and staff is our top priority and we’ve made some big changes to our centres, from socially-distanced training rooms to staggered start times. Although things will look different, our staff will be as friendly and helpful as ever and we’re really excited to welcome learners back.

If you’re concerned about visiting one of our centres, please get in touch so we can discuss it with you.

What do I need to join the course?

If you are a new learner you will need to meet with one of our team who will talk to you about the course and help you to get started. If you have already attended one of our classes your tutor will advise you on the areas you need to work on and practise.

What do I need to bring with me to the first session?

Please bring along a notebook and pen. We are following safety guidelines so, at the moment, we are unable to provide these for you.

How will I be taught?

You will be taught in English from the beginning and will be encouraged to speak in English. With the tutor’s help you will work on developing your own skills and take part in small group activities.

What will I learn?

You will learn words and phrases in English to talk about travel and transport. You will also learn where to look for travel information, how to plan a journey and how to keep safe when travelling.

What could I do next?

There are lots of courses available that include a range of topics that you may want to learn more about. You may also be able to move on to an Improvers level, to extend your knowledge of this subject further. Towards the end of this course you and your tutor will decide what is the best next step for you.

Can we help you to learn?

You can find more information on the Financial help and additional support page or you can contact us to talk about this and any other support we can provide.
