If you’d like to work in customer service or would like to develop your existing knowledge and understanding of customer service, then this Level 1 qualification will provide you with an opportunity to learn about a range of principles that will help you to provide effective customer service.

You’ll learn about strategies for delivering a good level of customer service and for handling queries, complaints and problems in a variety of different business settings. You’ll then learn about maintaining confidentiality, develop and awareness of customer expectations and gain an understanding of the responsibilities associated with different customer service roles. You’ll also learn about using different methods of communication and gain an insight into how body language and posture can affect your interactions with customers.

Upon successful completion of the course, you’ll have an understanding of how to provide effective customer service in a range of different settings and have a Level 1 qualification to add to your CV to support you in moving towards a customer-facing role. 

What will I learn?

You will have the opportunity to develop your knowledge and understanding of a range of key customer service principles. Upon successful completion of the course you will know how to:

  • Deliver good customer service
  • Provide good customer service in line with organisational procedures
  • Handle customer queries, problems and complaints effectively
  • Use a range of different communication methods.

You don’t need any experience of customer service at all, but you must be committed to attending the sessions and achieving your qualification.

What do I need to provide for the first session?

We recommend that you bring a notebook and a pen.

You might like to gain the next level of qualification and progress to a Level 2 Award in Customer Service course.

You might choose to improve your skills or work towards a qualification in English, maths or digital skills, or to develop your employability skills to help you to apply for a job, create or update your CV or improve your interview skills.
