The requirement for digital skills is becoming more and more a part of everyday life, from sending a text, checking timetables online, holding a video call with loved ones to installing apps, reading and responding to emails and booking appointments. Digital skills are needed all around us, so if you are looking to develop your digital skills to improve confidence or would just like to learn how to make that digital task a little bit easier, these Achieve your digital goals sessions are sure to be a great option for you.

Your digital skills might also have an impact on your ability to learn other subjects and may affect your ability to get the most out of your learning resources and to understand what online activities could support your learning. This might happen when you are trying to work out a maths problem, but struggle with using the calculator app on your phone or computer, when you are searching on the internet for information, when you are applying for a job and want your CV to stand out or when you want to teach yourself a new skill or hobby.

If this sounds like you, or someone you know, then coming along to these ‘Achieve’ sessions could be the perfect solution. Achieve sessions are informal, relaxed, informative and we hope you will have fun, as you not only learn new skills but make new friends too. You’ll be able to develop your digital skills and improve your confidence at your own pace as part of a small group, learning with other adults who are also looking to improve their Digital skills. You will be supported by a professional tutor and Learning Support Assistant, who will work with you to think about your learning goals and then create your own individual learning plan to make sure you achieve them.

What are you doing to keep learners safe?

The safety of our learners and staff is our top priority and we’ve made some big changes to our centres, from socially-distanced training rooms to staggered start times. If you choose to attend one of our classrooms in a centre then things will look different, but our staff will be as friendly and helpful as ever and are really excited to welcome learners back. Of course, if you choose to attend our virtual classroom from home, then that is fine too. Our staff and tutors have been really busy over the last few months ensuring that we can provide you will the same quality of teaching and learning virtually as we do in the classroom.

If you’re concerned about visiting one of our centres, please get in touch so we can discuss it with you.

What will I learn?

You’ll work towards your own learning goals and improve the aspects of Digital Skills that are stopping you doing the things you want to do. This might be improving your knowledge of tools in software applications, researching on the internet, recognising device options, organising files and folders, improving confidence when using online links or something different that you want to focus on.

What is it like to learn with East Riding Adult Learning and Employability?

At East Riding Adult Learning and Employability we pride ourselves on the support we give to our learners, from the very time you contact us, to the day you achieve your goals.

If you choose to ‘achieve’ with us you will be supported by our dedicated staff, learn in small friendly and welcoming groups, have the opportunity to take part in activities to practice your skills, be encouraged to continue to practice when you are away from the classroom and receive lots of encouragement to help you build both your skills and your confidence.

As well as working in groups, you will benefit from regular time working with your tutor and/or learning support assistant, discussing your progress and planning your next steps. They will also tell you about all of the other great opportunities that you have access to including help with developing your maths or digital skills, joining one of our creative skills classes or sessions to improve your health, wellbeing, confidence or resilience or, if you are looking for work or aiming for a change of role, then your tutor will also make you aware of the employability programmes we have available to support you in achieving your employment goals.

Our team will be there to support you at every step of your journey and we always welcome your feedback to help us ensure that you feel safe, happy, supported and welcome.
