Course details
The 1 day refresher course is required every 3 years. It gives an in-depth guide to Health and Safety legislation and aims to raise awareness of the responsibilities that all managers and supervisors plus Health and Safety specialists are expected to maintain.
The course is concluded with a written examination and a project based on the learner’s own workplace that is submitted within 2 weeks of the end of the course. This qualification must be renewed every 3 years by completing the IOSH Managing Safely Refresher - 1 day course.
What do I need to join the course?
In order to be eligible to complete this course you must be in a supervisory or people management role.
What do I need to bring with me to the first session?
You may wish to have a notepad and pen available for making any notes. You will also need your IOSH Course materials.
For courses delivered in person, please bring refreshments/meals with you as these are not provided.
How will I be taught?
You will be taught by an experienced trainer and will take part in a range of activities including demonstrations, group and individual work.
The course is concluded with a written examination. A project based on the learner’s own workplace must be submitted within 2 weeks of the end of the course.

- what is meant by Health and Safety.
- about the concept of the Management of Risk.
- how to Control risk.
- the main points of the English legal framework when related to Health and Safety.
- about general workplace hazards.
- how Performance Measurement is undertaken with regards to safety management.
- about general Accident Investigation and Reporting processes.
