Managing blood sugar is the key to living well with diabetes, and eating well is the key to managing blood sugar.
Healthy foods in the right amounts at the right times and keeping active will help you to ensure your blood sugar stays in your target range as much as possible. It will also help you control your weight and generally feel better.
In this session you will create a diabetic friendly three course option: turkey meatball laksa, berry mousse and flourless chocolate cookies- healthy dishes for the whole family to enjoy!

If you choose to join this cookery course you will be supported by our dedicated staff, learn in a small friendly and welcoming group, have the opportunity to take part in activities to practice your skills, be encouraged to continue to practice when you are away from the classroom and receive lots of encouragement to help you build both your skills and your confidence.
As well as working in groups, you will benefit from regular time working with your tutor, discussing your progress and planning your next steps. They will also tell you about all of the other great opportunities that you have access to including help with developing your skills, joining one of our creative skills classes or sessions to improve your health, wellbeing, confidence or resilience. If you are looking for work or aiming for a change of role, then your tutor will also make you aware of the employability programmes we have available to support you in achieving your employment goals.

If you’re interested in foreign cuisine, come along and develop your skills in Mexican, Chinese, Indian, Thai and Italian cookery.
Your tutor will discuss our range of short courses with you, including themes such as bread, biscuits, soups, batch cooking, desserts, family cookery, gluten free, speciality world cuisine, healthy eating, meals on a budget and pastry making to name but a few.
We will also cover the nutritional and financial benefits of home cooking, such as how to batch cook to fill up your freezer and use up those leftovers!
