Join us on this free Try session to begin to learn the basics of creating your own clothing. You’ll practice some basic stitches, and try out some different techniques for making your own garments using different fabrics.
At the end of the session you’ll have created something small to take home with you, and you’ll have the opportunity to learn about what options you have if you’d like to take your learning further.
Enthusiasm to learn more! You do not need to have any previous experience or knowledge of dressmaking to join this course.
All craft materials will be supplied on the day. You may wish to bring along a notebook and pen for any notes that you want to make.
You will be taught and supported by an experienced tutor and will take part in a range of activities including group work and individual work.
You will gain confidence in using a sewing machine and you will learn some simple stitches, that will result in you producing your own ‘quick make’ that you can be proud to take away after the session
Once you’ve attended this course you’ll be in a position to decide whether you wish to continue to learn more about dressmaking. If so then you may wish to progress to one of our other dressmaking courses and your tutor will give you more information about this in the session.
If you want to try a different subject then we offer a range of opportunities in computer skills, English, maths, employability, creative skills, retail, photography, supporting teaching and learning in schools etc.
You can find more information on the Financial help and additional support page or you can contact us to talk about this and any other support we can provide.
