Embark on a journey of digital discovery with our "Digital Space" course, a weekly session designed to help you to build confidence and resilience with the digital skills you need to navigate the ever-expanding online world.

Whether you're looking for support in accessing online services, enhancing your email communication, or tackling specific digital challenges at work or in your search for employment, our experienced tutor will provide you with personalised guidance and support.

Digital Space is suitable for everyone, whether you are a beginner seeking an introduction to the digital world or even if you are already enrolled in accredited courses and want to sharpen your existing skills to support you with your studies.

One of our experienced tutors will work closely with you to identify your individual needs and goals, ensuring that you receive advice and support applicable to your everyday needs. You will have the flexibility to attend at your convenience and ask questions without judgment or a weekly commitment; you can attend as many or as few sessions as you would like.

What will I learn?

On this course, you will:

  • Build confidence, resilience and proficiency in digital skills to support with life, work or other studies.
  • Create a plan to improve digital skills to support your daily life, work or studies.
  • Decide whether to progress to relevant courses that can further improve your digital skills.

If you choose to join this course you will be supported by our dedicated staff, learn in a small friendly and welcoming group, have the opportunity to take part in activities to practise your skills, be encouraged to continue to practise when you are away from the classroom and receive lots of encouragement to help you build both your skills and your confidence.

As well as working in groups, you will benefit from regular time working with your tutor, discussing your progress and planning your next steps. They will also tell you about all of the other great opportunities that you have access to including help with developing your skills, joining one of our creative skills classes or sessions to improve your health, wellbeing, confidence or resilience. If you are looking for work or aiming for a change of role, then your tutor will also make you aware of the employability programmes we have available to support you in achieving your employment goals.

Our team will be there to support you at every step of your journey and we always welcome your feedback to help us ensure that you feel safe, happy, supported and welcome.

What do I need to join the course?

Nothing! Just a willingness to learn and improve your digital skills. You don’t need any previous knowledge or skills to join the course. Our experienced tutors will be able to help you with your digital needs at all levels.

What do I need to provide for the first session?

There is nothing specific you need to bring, but you might find it helpful to bring a notebook and pen to take some notes. You are also welcome to bring your own devices to the session.

What could I do next?

Following this session, you could choose to come along to any of our other digital courses such as Using the Internet on Your Computer, Managing Apps on Your Smartphone or Tablet, or Connect with the World: A Guide to Communicating Using Your Smartphone and Tablet. Alternatively, you might also wish to attend our Improve Your Essential Digital Skills course where you can gain a free qualification which aims to improve your digital skills in a range of areas such as creating and editing documents and communicating online.
