The Level 1 Award in Employability is designed to support you to successfully gain a job or prepare for further study, supporting the development of the skills required for successful independent living and work. The course will build on your strengths, as you prepare for employment and offer support as you plan your next steps.

Our Community Project, led by our tutors, will support you to be part of a working group. The group will plan and carry out a community project, giving you valuable experience for your CV, as you work towards job applications.

What will I learn?

You will work with your tutor to complete a portfolio. In order to achieve the qualification, you will complete the following units:

Unit 401 - Planning for personal progression

The aim of this unit is to help you to plan for progression by understanding your programme and the facilities and support available and by being able to recognise and build on personal strengths.

Unit 421 - Community Project

The aim of this unit is to help you to plan, carry out and review a community project.

As well as working in groups, you will benefit from regular time working with your tutor, discussing your progress and planning your next steps. They will also tell you about all of the other great opportunities that you have access to including help with developing your skills, joining one of our creative skills classes or sessions to improve your health, wellbeing, confidence or resilience. If you are looking for work or aiming for a change of role, then your tutor will also make you aware of the employability programmes we have available to support you in achieving your employment goals.

Our team will be there to support you at every step of your journey and we always welcome your feedback to help us ensure that you feel safe, happy, supported and welcome.

What do I need to join the course?

Prior to enrolment, you will speak to one of our advisors to make sure this course is the right one for you.

What do I need to provide for the first session?

The course is for those who want to progress into employment and are needing assistance to overcome barriers and secure that employment opportunity.

You will need to bring a pen and a notebook.

What could I do next?

The course is designed to support clients into employment, there is the opportunity to undertake further learning to enhance your skills and further support you into employment through ERYC or alternative providers.
