This free course is ideal if you would like to know more about stress management for personal reasons, or are looking to work with, and support, individuals suffering from stress. Learning to manage stress can have a significant, positive effect on our mental well-being. On completion of this course you will understand more about the impact of stress on individuals and those closest to them.

What do I need to join the course?

In order to join this eLearning course you will need: A reliable internet connection and a computer, laptop, or tablet. You may also choose to use a headset or earphones. You will need to have access to the East Riding eLearn platform and joining instructions will be sent to you after you have enrolled.

What do I need to provide for the first session?

No specific equipment is required to attend the course, although pens & paper for taking notes whilst the training is in progress may be useful. You should ensure that you have a suitable place to study that is free from any distractions.

How will I learn?

This is an eLearning course and you will work at your own pace. As you work through the course you will have the opportunity to answer questions, take part in quizzes and check your knowledge. You can take breaks from your learning and your progress will be saved for when you are ready to resume.

What will I learn?

You will learn:

  • The definition of ‘stress’, the causes and effects of stress, internal and external demands of stress and how these can be effectively managed.
  • The physical effects of stress, the body’s reaction to stress and the possible side effects it can have on our health.
  • The internal and external demands present in daily life that can cause and heighten levels of stres
  • The steps that can be taken to reduce the arduous demands experienced in life which can lead to stress.
