If English is not your first language, sign up to this free single session course for the opportunity to improve your number skills in the English language.
This session focuses on developing your vocabulary in relation to numbers and maths. You’ll start with reading a range of numbers in English and then move on to using number skills in everyday life, such as reading times, prices and measurements. Next, you’ll explore the language of maths in relation to the basic calculations you may carry out in your day-to-day life at home and at work.
You’ll be in a small, friendly class, where you’ll focus on improving your number skills. You’ll have lots of opportunities to take part in speaking and listening activities and to improve your ability to read, write and understand numbers in English.
In this session, you will learn:
At East Riding Adult Learning and Employability we pride ourselves on the support we give to our learners, from the very first phone call, right through to achieving your learning aims and beyond to ensure that you have the skills, knowledge and resources you need to reach your goals.
When you enrol on a Multiply course, your tutor will work with you to give you advice on the best ways to develop your everyday number skills and what progression opportunities we have for you. They will discuss the support we have available and together you will plan out your learning journey.
You’ll have 1-1 time with your tutor to discuss your progress and identify opportunities for further development. Your tutor will work with you to make sure that you always have the support you need to achieve your learning aim and to give you information about other opportunities you can access, whether this is further ESOL learning, developing your maths or digital skills or exploring options that are relevant to your wider goals.
You must be 19+ to join this course.
You don’t need to have any previous experience in studying maths, just a willingness to participate in the session.
We recommend that you bring a notebook, a pen, and a folder, to keep your work together.
When you’ve completed your learning, you will have the opportunity to discuss your next steps with our team. You might choose to continue improving your maths, by working towards a qualification, or choose instead to explore our wider offer, which includes a range of ESOL courses, as well as courses in digital skills, health and wellbein,g and creative crafts.
