Have you ever been on holiday in a Spanish speaking country and wished that you could chat to the locals, to find your way around better and hear what’s going on? This course will help you to improve your conversational Spanish so you can ask for directions, describe local attractions – and lots more besides.
If you already have a basic grasp of Spanish (as you might have learnt on our Spanish for beginners programme) then this is the ideal next step to take your skills to the next level. Spanish is a great language to learn, and with over 400 million native speakers worldwide you’ll never be short of opportunities to practice.
There are lots of reasons that you might choose to learn to speak Spanish, whether it be for travel, employment, leisure, family connections or research. So if you’re heading to a Spanish speaking country on holiday or for business, or have Spanish family and friend connections and want to start to improve simple conversations, this course is for you.
This course is part of our conversational Spanish for improvers programme which will enable you to learn and improve basic Spanish on the theme of directions and and places of interest.

If you choose to join this course you will be supported by our dedicated staff, learn in a small friendly and welcoming group, have the opportunity to take part in activities to practise your skills, be encouraged to continue to practise when you are away from the classroom and receive lots of encouragement to help you build both your skills and your confidence.
As well as working in groups, you will benefit from regular time working with your tutor, discussing your progress and planning your next steps. They will also tell you about all of the other great opportunities that you have access to including help with developing your skills, joining one of our creative skills classes or sessions to improve your health, wellbeing, confidence or resilience. If you are looking for work or aiming for a change of role, then your tutor will also make you aware of the employability programmes we have available to support you in achieving your employment goals.

You may benefit from having some basic Spanish vocabulary knowledge, or having attending the essential vocabulary course.
You may find it useful to have a notebook and pen to make notes.
