Are you looking to improve your understanding and use of numeracy skills in your daily life, at home and at work, or perhaps you want to brush up on the skills that would help you solve problems using and applying numbers in everyday situations? If so, then our Multiply: Improve Your Everyday Number Skills course could be the opportunity you are looking for to help you to build your confidence and develop your numeracy skills.
You’ll start your learning by coming along to our friendly, welcoming spaces, where you’ll meet one of our tutors, discuss what it is you want to achieve and do some skills assessments to help you to provide us with a clear picture of your actual needs. Depending on the level of skills you currently have, this may involve spending more time in the Multiply sessions to build your skills and confidence or moving quickly into the qualification course.
To support you to achieve your learning target there is an expectation that you will complete a minimum of one hour of independent study per week to ensure that you are ready for your assessments; your tutor will discuss this with you and ensure that you have the support you need to achieve your goals.
You will discuss and agree on your learning targets with your tutors and work towards achieving these targets in the sessions, which could relate to improving your knowledge of multiplication and division skills or develop your skills further and be able to apply your knowledge to work out problems involving money or simply understand how to work out a percentage of something.
At East Riding Adult Learning and Employability we pride ourselves on the support we give to our learners, from the very first time you contact us, to the day you achieve your goals.
If you choose to join this course you will be supported by our dedicated staff, learn in a small friendly and welcoming group, have the opportunity to take part in activities to practise your skills, be encouraged to continue to practise when you are away from the classroom and receive lots of encouragement to help you build both your skills and your confidence.
As well as working in groups, you will benefit from regular time working with your tutor, discussing your progress and planning your next steps. They will also tell you about all of the other great opportunities that you have access to including help with developing your skills, joining one of our creative skills classes or sessions to improve your health, wellbeing, confidence or resilience. If you are looking for work or aiming for a change of role, then your tutor will also make you aware of the employability programmes we have available to support you in achieving your employment goals.
Our team will be there to support you at every step of your journey and we always welcome your feedback to help us ensure that you feel safe, happy, supported and welcome.
You don’t need to have any previous experience in studying maths.
We recommend that you bring a notebook, a pen and a folder to keep your work together.
When you’ve completed your learning, you will have the opportunity to discuss your next steps with our team. You might choose to continue improving your Maths by working towards the next level of qualification or moving on to another related subject area.
You might choose instead to develop your English or digital skills or to work towards a qualification in these areas. Alternatively, you may decide to learn about mental health, neurodiversity or employability skills or explore our wider course offer, which includes topics such as photography, arts and crafts and mindfulness. Please discuss options available with your tutor or follow the link below to explore our range of courses available on the Course Booking System.
You can find more information on the Financial help and additional support page or you can contact us to talk about this and any other support we can provide.
