What will I learn?

You will learn how to:

• adjust, mend, upcycle and recreate items
• make and use a paper pattern
• make necessary alterations to ensure a good fit
• add collars, zips etc.

What do I need to join the course?

Some basic knowledge of how to use a sewing machine would be beneficial as well as some basic maths skills as you will need to be able to do some simple calculations to use rulers and other measuring equipment.

What do I need to provide for the first session?

Your tutor will talk to you in week one of the course and advise what you need to bring in week two to complete your personal project.

If you have your own dressmaking scissors, chalk, pencil and tape measure then please bring them with you, however, don’t worry if not, as we will have supplies available in the classroom.

What could I do next?

You may wish to progress to our other dressmaking courses or consider some of our other Adult Learning courses such as knitting, creative writing and poetry, mindfulness, photography or computer skills, English, maths and employability.
