What will I learn?

On this course you and your child will work together to decorate biscuits, to understand the calorific values of ingredients and treats and to make a small box which you can then recreate at home for any occasion.

As well as working in groups, you will benefit from regular time working with your tutor, discussing your progress and planning your next steps. They will also tell you about all of the other great opportunities that you have access to including help with developing your skills, joining one of our creative skills classes or sessions to improve your health, wellbeing, confidence or resilience.

If you are looking for work or aiming for a change of role, then your tutor will also make you aware of the employability programmes we have available to support you in achieving your employment goals.

What do I need to join the course?

Children must be supervised at all times by the accompanying adult. (Maximum of 2 children per adult).

What do I need to provide for the first session?

All ingredients will be provided.

Bring along aprons in case it gets messy! You will need a suitable container to take your treats home in.

What could I do next?

When you’ve completed your learning, you will have the opportunity to discuss your next steps with our team. You might choose to improve your maths by working towards the next level of qualification or to move on to a related creative subject.

You might choose instead to develop your English or digital skills or to work towards a qualification in these areas. Alternatively, you may decide to learn about mental health, neurodiversity or employability skills or explore our wider course offer, which includes topics such as photography, arts and crafts and mindfulness.
