If you’d like to start writing script for performance, but are not quite sure where to begin, then you might like to sign up to this course for an introduction to scriptwriting, starting right at the beginning with the basics.
On this course you’ll learn how to gather your ideas and develop them into a plan for your script. You’ll then learn about the conventions of scriptwriting in different genres and how you can adapt your writing to impact your audience, whether you’d like them to laugh, cry or feel suspense. Next, you’ll focus on creating characters that drive your script and learn how to match their personalities to their dialogue and interactions with others. You’ll also learn about the conventions of writing for audio and radio in order to create effect in the absence of visuals.
In each session you’ll have the chance to share your work with other members of the group and to give and receive constructive criticism to help you to continue your development beyond the end of your course.

This course is aimed at intermediate-level creative writers. You should have some experience of creative writing, be interested in expanding your knowledge even further and be willing to put pen to paper in the sessions.
We recommend that you bring your preferred writing equipment, such as a notebook and a pen.
