In this workshop you will be able to use your existing skills to design and create a piece of your own choosing; crockery for your own home or to give as gifts, decorative items for your garden or walls or perhaps a sculptural piece. Our tutor will be on hand to offer support and guidance, helping you to perfect your own designs and advising on the techniques needed to create your final items. You will also have the opportunity to develop your hand building, throwing and decorative techniques.

What will I learn?

On the course you will work on your own project and be able to consolidate skills such as throwing pots, using glazes and surface decoration and techniques for hand building sculpture.

What do I need to join the course?

You should have experience of basic pottery techniques and you may benefit from having attended our range of pottery courses.

What do I need to provide for the first session?

The course fee includes basic materials, which will be supplied. You may need to purchase additional materials depending on your individual project and you will need to supply your own protective clothing including an apron, gloves, and mask. We would also advise you to wear sensible footwear for moving around the pottery room. You will need to bring any additional items you wish to incorporate into your project on the first week, if you have any questions then please contact us.

What could I do next?

Your tutor will advise you on how you may further develop your pottery skills.

You may also consider some of our other courses such as knitting, creative writing, dressmaking, photography, patchwork and quilting, or computer skills, English, maths and employability courses.
