If you have some experience of crochet, but you’re keen to expand your abilities, then this is the course for you. You’ll build on the skills you’ve already acquired and learn a whole range of new techniques that will open up all sorts of new possibilities.
You’ll start by developing the three main crochet stitches and learn how to use these in your own work and projects.
You’ll learn how to create a range of granny squares and how to change colour as you work. You’ll also begin to work from written patterns and diagrams.

If you choose to join this course you will be supported by our dedicated staff, learn in a small friendly and welcoming group, have the opportunity to take part in activities to practise your skills, be encouraged to continue to practise when you are away from the classroom and receive lots of encouragement to help you build both your skills and your confidence.
As well as working in groups, you will benefit from regular time working with your tutor, discussing your progress and planning your next steps. They will also tell you about all of the other great opportunities that you have access to including help with developing your skills, joining one of our creative skills classes or sessions to improve your health, wellbeing, confidence or resilience. If you are looking for work or aiming for a change of role, then your tutor will also make you aware of the employability programmes we have available to support you in achieving your employment goals.

You will need to have some experience of using a basic crochet stitch. You may also benefit from having attended our Try Crochet course. If you are unsure, then please speak to a member of our team who will be happy to help.
Please bring along at least one size 4 (6mm) crochet hook, and at least 2 balls of chunky weight wool, in at least two colours of your choice. If you have a range of crochet hooks of different sizes, then you are welcome to bring these. If you have a range of crochet hooks of different sizes then please also bring these.
