Are you ready to get started on your creative writing journey or take your writing even further than before? Whether you’re totally new to creative writing or have already put pen to paper, come along to this taster session to be inspired to try something new and find out all about the courses we have on offer to help you to unleash your creativity.

In this session you’ll meet one of our creative writing tutors who will encourage and inspire you to start exploring your ideas and to discover which kinds of creative writing spark your imagination. You’ll meet like-minded others and will have the opportunity to ask questions and take part in a range of activities to help you decide what comes next for you in your creative writing journey. So, whether your next step is to focus on short stories and fiction, write about events that have really happened or even have a go at writing for performance, you’ll be in safe hands and your tutor will be there to support you every step of the way.

What will I learn?

In this session you’ll find out all about the different types creative writing courses we have on offer. You’ll be able to ask questions and take part in different activities to help you to decide what you’d like to do next.

You’ll get an introduction to the subject of creative writing and find out about the courses we offer in creative writing, covering areas like:

  • The foundations of creative writing, focusing on character creation, plot planning and perspective
  • Different formats and styles of creative writing, so you can experiment with different genres and types of writing
  • Life writing, to help you to write about events that have happened to you in your life or about the lives of others
  • Scriptwriting, so you can write for stage, screen or audio performance.

What do I need to join the course?

This is a taster course designed to introduce you to different types of creative writing, no matter whether you’re new to the subject or have experimented with putting pen to paper before. To get the most out of your session, you should come along ready to get involved and try something new.

What do I need to provide for the first session?

We recommend that you bring your preferred writing equipment, such as a notebook and a pen.
