Wondering if grant funding is the key to unlocking your community group's potential, but you’re just not sure where to start? This free introductory session will equip you with the knowledge to decide if grant funding aligns with your goals and explore alternative funding options.

You will learn more about grant funding and whether it is suitable for your voluntary organisation, including learning more about what’s involved with grant applications and how you can evidence the need/impact of your project. If you decide grant funding may not be for you, we can also share some alternatives that may be a better fit.

You will learn about some different places to get support for your group and you will also find out more information about the Writing Successful Grant Funding Applications courses, to determine which of our courses are the most suited to your needs, allowing you to enrol on the ones most relevant to you. We will also help you to get started with creating a project plan, helping you to identify key timelines, resources and your organisation’s capacity to complete the project.

What do I need to join the course?

A willingness to learn and a positive attitude! You should be interested in finding out more about grant funding and whether this suits your community group/voluntary organisation. You would also benefit from having some experience with navigating the internet using your smartphone, tablet, laptop or PC, although this is not essential. If you would like to brush up on your internet skills first, talk to one of our friendly members of staff about our wide range of digital skills courses.

What do I need to provide for the first session?

You might find it useful to bring your own smartphone or tablet along to the session to access the internet at certain points in the session. We do have some tablets available in our centre for you to use if you do not have your own. You might also find it helpful to bring a notebook and pen to make some notes to help with your learning.
