Cooking nutritious meals on a budget and getting the most you can from every ingredient is a challenge.

Slow cookers are an energy efficient way to cook, they’re great for batch cooking and an excellent way to cook one pot meals.

In this session our experienced tutor will show you how to create 4 ‘dump bags’ meals ready to freeze for cooking in a slow cooker. You will follow the instructions and recipes in our kitchen to create nutritious meals that you can prepare again and again at home. The recipes in this session are:

  • Sausage casserole.
  • Pulled pork
  • Slow cooker Chilli
  • Chunky chickpea and chirizo soup

Using your slow cooker there’s no need to buy ready meals anymore - you’ll have your own, healthy options ready to use. You’ll save time and money with these delicious and economical recipe, and explore the slow cooker as a healthy option for cooking on a budget.

What will I learn?

You'll learn how to create delicious and nutritious meals, put them into dump bags, and take them home to freeze, ready to slow cook in your slow cooker or on your hob.
