Join our friendly and inspiring sewing group, where creativity and community come together! Whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced stitcher, this is the perfect space to bring your sewing projects to life.
Want to make a garment from scratch? Finish that quilt? Upcycle some old clothing? Create a beautiful patchwork cushion, a stylish bag, or adorable baby gifts? Whatever your project, you’ll have the space, support, and guidance to make it happen.
Each week, you’ll learn new skills—from machine stitching to reading and interpretating a pattern to tacking to patchwork—helping you build confidence and expand your sewing know-how. With a welcoming atmosphere and like-minded people, you’ll be inspired to stitch, create, and have fun.
Through this learning opportunity you will network with and learn from your peers to share and give feedback in a supportive environment.
The course fee is shown at the top of the page. This is a full cost course.
At East Riding Adult Learning and Employability we pride ourselves on the support we give to our learners, from the very first time you contact us, to the day you achieve your goals.
If you choose to join this course you will be supported by our dedicated staff, learn in a small friendly and welcoming group, have the opportunity to take part in activities to practise your skills, be encouraged to continue to practise when you are away from the classroom and receive lots of encouragement to help you build both your skills and your confidence.
As well as working in groups, you will benefit from regular time working with your tutor, discussing your progress and planning your next steps. They will also tell you about all of the other great opportunities that you have access to including help with developing your skills, joining one of our creative skills classes or sessions to improve your health, wellbeing, confidence or resilience. If you are looking for work or aiming for a change of role, then your tutor will also make you aware of the employability programmes we have available to support you in achieving your employment goals.
Our team will be there to support you at every step of your journey and we always welcome your feedback to help us ensure that you feel safe, happy, supported and welcome.
Enthusiasm, the ability to hold and thread a needle, a pattern/chosen fabric if you’re making a garment from scratch, clothes that you want to repair, your own memorable fabric if you are creating patchwork pieces, wadding and quilt back fabric as needed. Advice will be given for your project materials in your first session.
If you have a project you would like to create, bring it with you! If you are undecided on a project worry not, your first session you will be making either a pincushion or scissor holder from scratch.
You may continue to engage and participate in Tailor-made fun workshops!
