We use numeracy every day in all areas of our lives. Our confidence and ability with numbers impacts us financially, socially, professionally and even our health and wellbeing. If you are looking to build both your number confidence and skills to help you manage your money and know where to get the right support from, this course might be the perfect option for you.
On our “Let’s Talk Money - Online Protection” you will work with a tutor to identify the most common SCAMs at the moment and learn how to report them, how to identify phishing/scam emails and investigate ways in which to protect themselves and their families from financial scams, including loans that offer quick pay out in return for very high debt.
You’ll start your learning by coming along to our friendly, welcoming spaces, where you’ll meet one of our tutors, discuss what it is you want to achieve and to give us a clear picture of your actual needs.
What will I learn?
In “Let’s Talk Money - Online Protection” you will participate in activities, discussions and tasks that aim to improve your number confidence and skills. You’ll work with the tutor to learn how to make the most of your money and how to protect yourself online. Topics included:
- Identify common clues that will help you to recognise online scams.
- Explain how to minimise the impact of scam risks.
- Gained Knowledge of and followed the steps to report scams.
- Confidence to ‘have a go’ at new things.
- Learners will develop their basic, digital skills.
You will leave feeling more confident in your own number skills and have an understanding of how to look after your money and how to manage debt.
If you have enjoyed learning with us, you can decide whether you want to continue improving your numeracy skills with some of our maths qualifications or explore our wider offer to meet your needs.
How much will it cost?
If you’re aged 19 or over and live in the East Riding Of Yorkshire or surrounding area, this course will most likely be funded for you. We will discuss and check your eligibility, when you enrol on this course.

What do I need to join the course?
You don’t need to have any previous experience in studying numeracy, just a willingness to participate in the sessions and an enthusiasm to learn!
What do I need to provide for the first session?
We recommend that you bring a notebook and a pen.
What could I do next?
When you’ve completed your learning, you will have the opportunity to discuss your next steps with our team. You might choose to continue improving your Maths by working towards the next level of qualification or moving on to a related tailored learning subject.
You might choose instead to develop your English or digital skills or to work towards a qualification in these areas. Alternatively, you may decide to learn about mental health, neurodiversity or employability skills or explore our wider course offer.
