This short employability course will support you to create an effective, tailored CV.

Over two sessions, you will explore different CV formats and choose the most suitable style for your goals. You’ll also learn how to amend your CV to make sure it matches what employers are looking for.

By the end of the course, you will have produced a clear, editable CV that is targeted and ready for use in job applications.

What will I learn?

On this course you will learn how to:

  • Describe the key parts of a CV, including personal profile, skills, work experience, education and achievements.
  • Use different CV formats and choose the most suitable one for your applications.
  • Begin drafting a personalised CV, gathering relevant information about skills, experience, and qualifications.
  • Use effective formatting techniques to ensure the CV is well-organised and easy to read.
  • Identify common CV mistakes and know how to avoid them.
  • Review, edit and produce a polished final CV ready for use in job applications.

What do I need to join the course?

You don’t need any qualifications or experience to join this course. Before you start you will have a chat with one of our advisors to make sure this is the right course for you.

What do I need to provide for the first session?

You will need to bring a notebook and pen, as well as details of your education and employment history.
