Bring your sewing projects to life in a friendly, creative and supportive environment. Whether you’re a complete beginner, returning to sewing or already have experience, this relaxed workshop gives you the time, space and guidance to develop your skills and confidence while working on projects of your own choice.

During the course, you’ll bring along your own sewing projects to work on with support from an experienced tutor. You’ll have opportunities to learn and practise new stitches, techniques and sewing skills, as well as getting guidance to help you tackle challenges and progress your individual projects. From patchwork and repairs to alterations, accessories and other creative makes, the focus is on helping you develop the skills you need for the things you want to create.

You’ll also enjoy sharing ideas and inspiration with other sewing enthusiasts in a welcoming and sociable environment, building your confidence and expanding your sewing know-how along the way. With projects and skills developing at your own pace, you can continue building on your learning through future course cycles.

What will I learn?

During this course, you’ll develop practical sewing skills and techniques while working on projects of your own choice. With guidance from an experienced tutor, you’ll learn and practise techniques relevant to your individual project, which may include machine stitching, hand sewing, working with patterns, seams, hems, fastenings, patchwork and a range of finishing techniques.

You’ll develop your confidence in choosing and using appropriate sewing techniques, materials and equipment, as well as learning how to overcome challenges and achieve a high-quality finish in your work. As your skills develop, you can build on previous learning and progress to new techniques or more challenging projects.

You’ll also learn alongside like-minded people, sharing ideas, inspiration and practical tips in a friendly and supportive environment.
