Get creative this Halloween and make your own ceramic decoration!
During this fun and relaxed pottery workshop, you will use clay to create your choice of a Halloween-inspired tea-light holder or decorative pumpkin ornament. You can personalise your piece with cut-out shapes, textures, relief decoration and seasonal colours to produce a unique item to enjoy year after year.
Suitable for complete beginners and those with some previous experience, this friendly, hands-on session offers an enjoyable introduction to pottery techniques and the chance to spend time doing something creative.
What will I learn?
During the session, you will learn how to shape and construct your chosen Halloween project using slab-building or hand-building techniques. You will practise cutting, shaping and refining clay, and use scoring and slipping techniques to join pieces securely.
You will explore ways to personalise your design using cut-out shapes, impressed textures or raised clay decoration. You will then select and apply coloured slips or engobes to bring your Halloween creation to life.
By the end of the session, you will have developed greater confidence in handling clay and created an individual ceramic piece ready for firing.
Your finished piece will need time to dry before being fired. We will let you know when it is ready to collect from the centre.

What do I need to join the course?
No previous pottery experience is required. This taster session is suitable for beginners, as well as those with some prior experience of using clay to form your own useful and beautiful pottery creation.
What do I need to provide for the first session?
Please wear suitable clothing that you don't mind getting a little messy, closed-toe footwear and bring an apron if you have one.
