’Tis the season for festive storytelling! If you are looking for some Christmas cheer with a creative twist, Yuletide Tales offers the perfect opportunity to explore the magic of Christmas through creative writing.
During this session, you will discover how setting, characters, themes and writing styles can work together to create that unmistakable festive feeling. Drawing inspiration from popular Christmas stories in print and on screen, you will explore what makes seasonal fiction so memorable and learn techniques to bring Christmas atmosphere into your own writing.
Whether you are an experienced creative writer or would simply like to try something new, you will be supported by an experienced tutor in a friendly and welcoming environment. You will leave with a greater understanding of how festive stories are crafted - and the beginnings of your own festive fiction.
What will I learn?
In this session you will:
- Explore examples of Christmas storytelling in print and on the screen.
- Consider the key themes and elements of festive fiction.
- Learn how to draw upon these key aspects in your own writing to craft your own Yuletide Tales.
- Have a go at writing your own example of a short Christmas story, or even plan a longer piece of work to finish at home.

What do I need to join the course?
No previous writing experience is needed, just the willingness to come along, get involved and have a go at writing some festive fiction.
What do I need to provide for the first session?
You might like to bring your own laptop or notebook and pen, but there will also be resources provided in the session.
