Are you dyslexic or know someone who is? Do you want to learn about dyslexia to be able to help others, or are you just curious about what it actually is?
This three-hour session has been designed to give you an introduction to dyslexia, so you can understand what it is and how it can affect individuals in life, learning and work.
You’ll come away with an understanding of the traits associated with dyslexia and an awareness of the help and support that is available to children and adults who have been diagnosed with this neurodivergent condition.
You will learn about a range of traits associated with living with dyslexia and how these can affect individuals differently. With an emphasis on raising awareness and understanding, you’ll find out how to go about gaining a diagnosis and you’ll learn about a range of strategies that individuals might find helpful to use for coping with dyslexia in different aspects of their daily lives. You’ll explore the different kinds of help and support that are available for both adults and children, so you can come away with a greater understanding of this neurodivergent condition and how you can go about accessing support for yourself, or for others with or without a diagnosis.
The fee for this course is listed at the top of this page. Concessions may be available, subject to eligibility.

We recommend that you bring a notebook and a pen.
You may progress to one or more of our other short neurodiversity courses, such as Understanding Neurodiversity, Understanding Dyspraxia, Understanding ADHD or Understanding Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Alternatively, you may decide to explore our wider course offer, which includes subjects like mental health and wellbeing, as well as English, maths and digital skills.
