Get creative this festive season and make your own ceramic decoration!
During this fun and relaxed pottery workshop, you will use clay to create your choice of a festive-inspired tea-light house or star decorative ornament. You will then personalise your house with cut-out windows and doors, attaching chimneys, cats or birds to the roof. Using clay, you’ll make surface patterns and textures on your piece. You will paint your design using seasonal colours to produce this unique item to enjoy year after year.
Suitable for complete beginners and those with some previous experience, this friendly, hands-on session offers an enjoyable introduction to pottery techniques and the chance to spend time being creative.
During the session, you will learn how to shape and construct your chosen festive tea-light house or star ornament using slab-building and other hand-building techniques. You will practise cutting, shaping and refining clay, and use score and slip method to join your pieces together securely.
You will explore ways to personalise your design using cut-out shapes, impressed textures &/or raised clay relief shapes. You will then select and apply coloured slips or engobes to bring your Festive creation to life.
By the end of the session, you will have developed greater confidence in handling clay and created an individual ceramic piece ready for firing.
Your finished piece will need time to dry before being fired. We will let you know when it is ready to collect from the centre.
The fee for the course is displayed at the top of the page.
