Crochet is a cheap and portable hobby – you can make projects for yourself or for your home or to give as gifts to friends and family. The satisfaction of creating these items and seeing others admire them also helps to encourage positive feelings, satisfaction and happiness.
Come along to this beginner’s course, learn the basics of crochet and engage in a relaxing and productive craft activity! You’ll be able to make and take home granny squares, a coaster or a phone cover.
The safety of our learners and staff is our top priority and we’ve made some big changes to our centres, from socially-distanced training rooms to staggered start times. Although things will look different, our staff will be as friendly and helpful as ever and we’re really excited to welcome learners back.
If you’re concerned about visiting one of our centres, please get in touch so we can discuss it with you.
This course is aimed at beginners and no prior knowledge of the craft is required.
One crochet hook, size 6mm and one ball of chunky weight wool (100g), in a colour of your choice. If you have a range of crochet hooks of different sizes then please also bring these. You will be taught and supported by a friendly and experienced tutor and will take part in a range of activities including demonstrations, group and individual work. You may wish to carry out work outside the classroom to help you practise and apply the skills and knowledge that you gain.
On this course, you will learn: On this course, you will learn the basics of mindfulness and how to carry out crochet activities in a mindful and relaxing way. This will include identifying sources of stress in your own life and how to apply your new skills to help you to relax in your daily life. Over the six sessions you will also learn the art of crochet and create a small item to take home as a reminder of your achievement and participation.
You may wish to develop your skills further with our Crochet for relaxation step 2 course. Your tutor will provide more information about this at the end of your course.
