The safety of our learners and staff is our top priority and we’ve made some big changes to our centres, from socially-distanced training rooms to staggered start times. Although things will look different, our staff will be as friendly and helpful as ever and we’re really excited to welcome learners back.
If you’re concerned about visiting one of our centres, please get in touch so we can discuss it with you.
No formal qualifications are required to join this course. Before enrolling you will need to talk to one of our members of staff who will explain the course requirements to you in full.
Please bring along a notebook and pen. We are following safety guidelines so, at the moment, we are unable to provide these for you.You will need to have access to a computer and the internet outside of the course (we can help you with this).
You will be taught and supported by an experienced tutor to complete a portfolio of evidence. You will take part in a range of activities including group work and individual work. You may be asked to carry out work and research away from the classroom to ensure you gain the required skills and knowledge to achieve. Attendance at sessions is important to make sure you are successful.
On the course you will look at the definitions of and causes of mental health difficulties. You will explore common perceptions and stereotyping around mental health, how cultural diversity can affect these issues, how and where support can be accessed and the rights of those with such difficulties.
When you have successfully completed all coursework you will receive the NCFE CACHE Level 1 Award in Mental Health Awareness
You may wish to go on to join one of our other Health and Social Care courses; we offer courses in Counselling, Self Esteem and Confidence Building and Mindfulness; your tutor will discuss the options with you during your time on this course.
You can find more information on the Financial help and additional support page or you can contact us to talk about this and any other support we can provide.
