Course details

If English is not your first language then come along to this friendly class, take part in the activities and start to learn English words and phrases to help you in your day to day life and work. You will talk about shopping, food and drink in a small and friendly class and will have lots of opportunities to practise speaking in and listening to English as well as doing some very simple reading and writing exercises.

What are you doing to keep learners safe?

The safety of our learners and staff is our top priority and we’ve made some big changes to our centres, from socially-distanced training rooms to staggered start times. Although things will look different, our staff will be as friendly and helpful as ever and we’re really excited to welcome learners back.

If you’re concerned about visiting one of our centres, please get in touch so we can discuss it with you.

What do I need to join the course?

You will need to meet with one of our team who will talk to you about the course and help you to get started.

What do I need to bring with me to the first session?

It would be helpful to bring a notebook and a pen.

How will I be taught?

You will be taught in English from the beginning and will be encouraged to speak in English. With the tutor’s help you will work on developing your own skills and take part in small group activities.

What will I learn?

You will learn words and phrases to use when talking about shopping, food and drink to others. We will talk about favourite foods and recipes, where to buy the cheapest ingredients and healthy food options.

What could I do next?

There are lots of courses available that include a range of topics that you may want to learn more about. You may also move on to an Improvers level, to extend your knowledge of this subject further. Towards the end of this course you and your tutor will decide what is the best next step for you.

Can we help you to learn?

You can find more information on the Financial help and additional support page or you can contact us to talk about this and any other support we can provide.
